Cleaning and maintenance of coated surface

Cleaning and maintenance of coated surface is necessary for:

  • maintenance of decorative look of surface
  • minimize the influence of oxidation on surfaces exposed to weather conditions

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLEANING COATED SURFACES

For proper maintenance and cleaning of coated surfaces, it is important to adhere to the following minimum requirements:

  • Use only plain water to which you can add a neutral detergent (pH 7), as possible using a soft non-abrasive cloth (cotton). Do not clean with strong rubbing.
  • To remove grease, oil or soot use alcohol, which contains no aromatic compounds or isopropyl alcohol (IPA). The same can be done to remove the remains of putty, silicone or adhesive tape.
  • Do not use solvents or similar ketones containing esters, ketones, alcohol, aromatics, ethyl glycol, or halogen hydrocarbons
  • Seals and other resources (gloss, Lubricants and other fluids) must be pH neutral and not containe substances that can damage the plasticizer. If necessary, a test coat has to be done.
  • Do not use abrasive means
  • Do not use strong acid or alkaline detergents, same as the means of unknown origin.
  • All means used warmed up to max 25 º C.
  • Surface temperature must not exceed 25 º C during cleaning.
  • The maximum duration of exposure of plastic surfaces to detergents must not exceed 1 hour. If necessary, the cleaning process can be repeated after at least 24 hours.
  • Immediately after the process of cleaning the surface rinse out with clean, cold water

Packaging and storage of coated materials

Type of packaging and proper treatment during handling and storage, are extremely important to avoid damaging of plastic surface.

Powder coated profiles, tubes and similar goods are packed by wrapping stretch wrap. To better protect your goods during the delivery and transport we use 30 micron stretch film with additional UV protection. This way, we reduce the influence of heat and UV radiation on the powder coated surface.

Plasticized goods, till installation, must be stored indoors. In the case of storage of goods in the open space we recommend that you remove the foil, because condensation forms moisture under the foil on the item surface that can not be naturally ventilated (“water stains”), and can damage the surface of powder coated items.
